Nothing moves bottles like a discontinuation rumour. This year's list of allegedly doomed fragrances includes two designer icons, three niche darlings and — somehow — a fragrance that was already discontinued once and came back.
Our sorting of the rumours: confirmed — one aquatic classic is genuinely being phased out, retailer stock everywhere is marked "while supplies last." Probable — two niche scents whose brands were acquired last year; portfolio cuts always follow acquisitions. Noise — the rest, mostly resellers talking up their own inventory.
The golden rule of discontinuation panic: if you love it, one backup bottle. If you like it, screenshots and memories. The aftermarket price of "rare" fragrances is 80% manufactured scarcity.
And remember: every discontinued legend has a dupe within eighteen months. The clones never die.
